Having conquered the land of Dacia- today known as Romania- emperor Trajan erected a monumental column in the heart of Rome’s Fora to mark his achievement. Celebrating 1900 years from that day, but also the 140th anniversary of the V&A’s Cast Courts, the museum launched a programme of events in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute. The highlight was a Son-et-Lumière spectacle centered around the column that was projection mapped, with the low-relief cartoon-like scenes covering it brought to life through animation and a purpose-made soundtrack. A film created by Emily Harris and narrated by Dan Snow complemented the show, providing the historical context. Natalia has provided the technical design support and coordination for this imaginative event to come to life.
